Propellant Tanks
Use the Propellant Tanks tab to create propellant tanks and link them with existing thrusters. The Propellant Tanks tab contains two tabs:
Spacecraft Configuration
This tab has two tables where you can manage your propellant tanks and each tank's parameters.
Propellant Tank Parameters
This table enables you to add, copy, delete, or rename a propellant tank. Any modifications to the tank list here will be reflected on all of the tables on the Propellant Tanks tab.
Propellant Fractions
This table is populated based on propellant tanks and thrusters in the SOLIS scenario. Each thruster will deplete mass from a tank with a corresponding nonzero propellant fraction entry. Thrusters with all zero entries will not draw propellant but will still attempt to fire. If a thruster has a sum of propellant fractions not equal to zero across all tanks, the values will be scaled to get a sum of 1 for that thruster when the config files are written.
For example, a thruster with tank propellant fraction entries of 2 and 2 will end up drawing the same amount of fuel as if 0.5 and 0.5 were used instead; 0.5 and 0.5 will be used in the config file.
ODySSy Simulation (Truth Model)
This tab has two tables that mirror the ones on Spacecraft Configuration.
ODySSy Propellant Tank parameters
You can edit this table if you select the Override Propellant Tank Parameters for the ODySSy Model check box. The tank name cannot be changed on the ODySSy side. Changing the values enables you to cause the ODySSy truth model to be different from what is in the flight software.
ODySSy Propellant Fraction
You can edit this table if you select the Override Propellant Fraction for the ODySSy Modelcheck box.
Parameter/Control | Description | Units |
---|---|---|
Tank Name | Entera unique name for the propellant tank; you can onlychange it on the Spacecraft Configuration tab. | N/A |
CM Location | Specify the location of propellant tank center of mass, used for inertia calculations. Propellant tanks are treated as point masses at this location. | m, BDY |
CM Location Error | Specify the true location error of the propellant tank center of mass. This is only available in the ODySSy Propellant Tank Parameters table; otherwise, it will be zero if you do not select the Override Propellant Tank Parameters for the ODySSy Modelcheck box. | m, BDY |
Propellant Capacity | Specify the maximum amount of propellant that can be in the propellant tank. This is used for percent remaining calculations. | kg |
Propellant Level | Enter the amount of propellant in the tank at the start of the SOLIS run. It cannot be larger than Propellant Capacity. | kg |
